Indian Festival Calendar 2026: Morning Wishes for Every Occasion

Hardly a month passes in India without a festival, and a single morning wish landing on the right day outweighs a dozen sent on ordinary ones. Here is the whole year, set out so nothing sneaks up on you.
January to June
The year opens on Makar Sankranti and Pongal, with Republic Day close behind. February and March deliver Maha Shivaratri and Holi, the most colourful morning of the year for sending a wish. April holds Ram Navami, Baisakhi and Eid, depending on where the lunar calendar falls.
The rains and the build-upबारिश और आगे की तैयारी
Guru Purnima, Raksha Bandhan and Janmashtami land across July and August, with Independence Day on the 15th. These are also the weeks when rainy morning images match the weather better than anything else does. Family groups are at their busiest now, which makes it a sensible moment to keep a few images saved in advance.
The calendar beats hardest from September to November: Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri, Dussehra, Karwa Chauth, Dhanteras and Diwali itself, then Bhai Dooj and Chhath. A morning wish on each one is little effort for a great deal of return.
Winding the year upसाल को समेटते हुए
December carries Christmas, and for plenty of families the New Year's-eve message as well. Our festival good morning wishes get refreshed before each of these dates, so bookmark the page instead of scrambling at the last minute.
Get the big dates ready a week early
Come Diwali morning, every network in the country is choked and every family group is already fifty messages deep. The wish that shows up at 6 AM gets read; the one that shows up at noon gets scrolled past.
Save whichever images you plan to send a week before the date. The rush is precisely when a slow connection lets you down, and sending as a document is what holds the picture sharp when it finally goes, which is why this collection is refreshed ahead of a festival rather than on the day itself.
Regional festivals worth remembering
The national calendar tells only half the story. Onam in Kerala, Bihu in Assam, Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra, Baisakhi in Punjab, Durga Puja in Bengal, Ugadi across the Deccan: each one matters enormously to the people who keep it, and each one is routinely overlooked by everybody else.
Wishing a colleague on their own regional festival, and not only on the pan-Indian ones, is a small act that gets noticed without fail. Unsure of the date? Ask them the week before. The asking is the gesture.
How to write a wish that is not generic
Swap the festival's name in most festive messages and they still work, which is exactly why they read like forwards. One concrete detail fixes it: the sweet the family makes, the temple they go to, the cousin who is always late.
"Happy Diwali, hope the ladoos are as good as last year." outdoes any three-line blessing lifted from somewhere else, because it proves you were present. The same principle sits underneath every good morning message that works. Let the image be beautiful and generic; the words must not be both."
About the dates themselves
The lunar calendar governs most Hindu festivals and the Hijri calendar most Islamic ones, so their Gregorian dates travel from year to year, sometimes by whole weeks. Diwali may land in October or in November; Eid slides roughly eleven days earlier each year.
The civil holidays alone stay put: Republic Day on 26 January, Independence Day on 15 August, Gandhi Jayanti on 2 October, Christmas on 25 December. For all the rest, look up a panchang or an official holiday list each year rather than relying on last year's date.

Sending wishes across faiths
India's calendar belongs to everyone, and a wish sent across a religious line ranks among the more meaningful small gestures available. Eid, Christmas, Guru Nanak Jayanti, Navroz and Buddha Purnima are somebody's festival in nearly every workplace and every neighbourhood.
Keep such wishes warm and plain rather than performative. "Eid Mubarak, hope the day is a good one with your family" does the job. What you are recording is that you noticed, and that is the whole content of the gesture.
Keep one small saved folder
The one habit that makes all of this painless is a folder on your phone holding ten or fifteen images already saved: two or three general good mornings, one floral, one funny, and whichever festival is coming next.
Swap its contents once a month. Five minutes clears away the only real friction in the whole business, which is hunting for something decent while the moment slips by.
